Project objective
The objective of the project is to perform the collection, treatment and exploitation of the data obtained during the processing of the manufactured articles in an extrusion line. The data collection system consists of a series of devices placed along the line that collect data for subsequent reading by the OPC client and storage in the database. The OPC server is connected directly to these two devices. The system also includes user management.
Technology used
- Data collection is done through a control system with 6 devices.
- All data reading and storage is done from a single PC which implements an OPC server that centralizes communications with the devices and also continuously runs an OPC client that communicates with the server to obtain the data and store it in a local database.
- The reports generated by the application are elaborated using the Microsoft SQL Server Report Biuilder 3.0 tool, which is accessible to users through a report server generated with the Reporting Services Configuration Manager tool.
