Project objective

The implemented MES (Manufacturing Execution System) allows to control and manage production in an optimal and effective way by integrating the different systems and departments of the company.
This system manages:

  • Automatic drawer addressing.
  • Rejection management.
  • Inventory management in the different areas and warehouses of the company.
  • Integration with SAP and Informix for data import and export.
  • Tracking and traceability of manufacturing and work orders.
  • Process productivity control.
  • MES System: Simatic IT
  • Database: SQL Server
  • Web application: Dynamic web pages residing on a server with IIS developed with Visual Studio.NET. Executable via Internet from any computer in the plant.
  • Plant applications: Applications that communicate with the field equipment installed in the plant. They are developed with Visual Studio .NET.
  • Information network: Ethernet TCP-IP.
  • Communication with other systems through file transfer in different formats, through sockets or via OPC.
  • Generation of labels with data and BIDI code.
  • Scalability.
  • Maintenance: Non-operating client workstations do not need new software installation as they only need an operating system and internet browser.
  • Integration of production and management processes.
  • Standardization of operations.
  • Standard software. Simatic IT is the MES software platform from Siemens, which has flexibility, upgradeability and immediate technical support.
  • System security. Operations are limited to personnel authorized to perform them.
  • Traceability of all operations.
