Boiler safety plc control system

Case Study
Project objective

The project consists of upgrading the existing control system at the customer's factory. The controllers and their signal cards have been replaced by a redundant and safety S7-400HF with remote input/output modules in ET-200SP periphery. This upgrade has improved redundancy at the equipment and program level as the chassis has 2 power supplies, 2 CPUs and 2 Ethernet network cards.

The periphery is not completely redundant as it was not in the original project and it is intended to take advantage of this part of the system.

The system is based on Siemens hardware and software:

  • Control system: S7-400HF.
  • Periphery via safety ET 200SP
  • Programming Software: Simatic Manager v7.5
  • Control networks: Profinet, Ethernet.
  • Control and safety redundancy through double CPU, double power supply and double Ethernet communication card.
  • Fully upgraded system with the latest technology.
  • Automaton redundancy that avoids possible failures.
  • New S7 program open to modifications.
  • Possibility of communications redundancy with the existing S7.
