Process control of shafts and gears

Case Study
Project objective

The system allows tracking and control of the manufacturing process of shafts and gears in each of the stages necessary to transform the raw material into the final product, either for internal consumption in assemblies and pre-assemblies or for shipment to third parties.
This system ensures that all parts go through all necessary operations and treatments (Route) for proper manufacturing and that they have passed all quality controls (control charts, tool change, preparation, heat treatment batches ...).
The monitoring is done through:

  • Control of operations and request of graphics at workstations (validation of operations).
  • Control of the graphics requested in the different laboratories (verification of parts).
  • Control of treatments (thermal, chemical... ) treatment laboratories.
  • Sending messages to area managers when an attempt is made to skip the corresponding process.

Technology used

  • Databases: SQL Server for the server and SQL Server Express for local machines.
  • Applications: WindowsForm for local computers and Active Server WEB Pages (ASP.NET) residing on a server with IIS (Internet Information Services) developed with Visual Studio.NET. Executable via Internet from any plant computer.
  • Information network: Ethernet TCP-IP. Communication with other systems through WEB services.
  • Report generation: Crystal Reports and SQLReporting.
  • Label generation: Zebra printer and use of bar codes for automatic reading.
